Competence Assessment
Redcap’s unique competency based profiling model has been designed specifically for skills assessment of procurement team members.
Our competence assessment approach enables clients to understand the skill and
development gaps within the business that need to be filled. Working with a matrix of 22 competences, covering both technical and behavioural skills, a structured skill assessment process engages with client managers to enable their contribution to the assessment of their procurement organisation.
This approach results in an effective assessment that provides an accurate picture of the organisation’s learning needs. This provides a foundation from which an effective learning journey can be designed for enhanced skills development.

- Supplier Assessment & Analysis Assessment. of suppliers as appropriate to the strategic importance of the requirement. Utilisation of techniques that consider, Quality, Cost, Pricing, Service, Lead-time compliance and Financial Management and enable the buyer to become a better customer.
- Management of Suppliers Management. of suppliers appropriate to the strategic importance of the requirement. Utilisation of techniques that enhance supplier contribution to better value supply.
- Development of Suppliers. Developing Continuous Improvement techniques that enable suppliers to be developed to provide best in class performance.
- Performance Measurement. Development both internally (the procurement team) and externally (suppliers) process to measure performance that enhances results in line with business objectives.

- Managing & Driving Change. Challenging the current approach, processes and perceptions to enhance performance. Evaluates existing, Consults, Recommends new / alternative approaches, Gaining consensus, Develops implementation strategy, Follow up post implementation.
- Relationship Development. Develops. and fosters both internal and external relationships, utilising techniques such as key account management, procurement marketing, customer focused teams.
- Negotiation. Develops and utilises a range of commercial negotiation approaches that complement the strategic nature of the requirement in line with Procurement and business objectives.
- Influencing & Persuasion. Utilisation of a range of styles to Influence others resulting in a change in behaviour or persuasion to change others people’s point of view. Providing the opportunity for enhanced performance internally or from suppliers.
- Decision Making. Where appropriate decisions are made based on facts, through effective research and consultation. There is a demonstrable energy where Issues are owned and a perseverance of spirit to delivery the results of a decision.
- Analytical Skills. Providing a logical and structured approach to problem solving and the analysis of data. Developing a systematic approach by breaking down a problem in to parts and then developing an effective set of solutions.
